Irish race horse experience center

Tully Ireland

This spring, the Irish Racehorse Experience was built in the Irish town of Tully, which tells the story of the thoroughbred breed and horse racing in Ireland—intended to enhance the experience of a day of horse racing at the Irish National Stud Garden.

Thoroughbred racing horses have been bred at the Irish National Stud Garden in Tully since 1900 and receive more than 120,000 visitors every year. This number is expected to increase significantly as a result of the Irish Racehorse Experience and in particular to increase the length of stay of national and international visitors.

The new Irish Racehorse Experience allows the visitor to enter the world of breeding thoroughbred horses for horse racing. The visitor experiences what it is like to prepare a foal for the first race and glorious career. What is needed and what distinguishes a “normal” horse from an exceptional racing horse such as Invincible Spirit?

Chief Executive of the Irish National Stud and Gardens, Cathal Beale said, “The Irish Racehorse Experience provides a beautiful stage for the Irish racehorse to be showcased to the world. Ireland is unique in its ability to provide the perfect environment for skilled people and very fertile land to breed the best horses. Through this experience will be able to understand how this is done and try this for yourself.”

From foal to finish

At the heart of the attraction is an immersive experience. Here the visitor is shown how a thoroughbred is trained and released at races from foal to finish. Visitors will also have the opportunity to “race” their horse through the latest simulation technology never before used in Ireland.

Every visitor in the experience receives a tablet, with a tracker. When a visitor approaches a film or interactive, the tablet will sync and will play the voice-over and music automatically in one of the six selected languages. For the hearing impaired, the transcription in the correct language is also displayed on the tablet.
